The Facial Nerve
Stimulation Project

Facial nerve stimulation is a promising treatment for conditions of brain ischemia such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and cardiac arrest. NeuroSpring is a leading authority in preclinical testing of invasive and non-invasive facial nerve stimulation and NeuroSpring is owner of Nervive Inc, which is developing the VitalFlow™ non-invasive facial nerve stimulator for the treatment of stroke.

Know us by our work

NeuroSpring is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity with a unique mission: To advance neuroscientific research and training that drives improved healthcare for the underserved. Here are some facts about us:

We were founded in 2005 and certified by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a public charity in 2006.

We have received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, the Bugher Foundation, the European Commission, and the National Headache Foundation.

We have published research manuscripts in BioMed Central, Brain Research, Cerebrovascular Diseases, Headache, Medical Hypotheses, Nature, Neurology, Stroke, and other top-rated, peer-reviewed journals.

We have presented research reports at numerous scientific meetings including the AI Med conference, the American Neurological Association annual meeting, the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting, the International Stroke Conference, and the European Stroke Organization Conference.

We have published a board examination textbook for neurology residents with Thieme Medical Publishers.

We have introduced more than 20 high school interns to basic science and computer engineering techniques, with more than 90% of them advancing on to college in a STEM field.

We have supported two of our high school interns with college scholarships through the NeuroSpring Scholars program.

We have worked with several college interns during their studies in computer engineering to advance the development of the Virtual Neurologist project.

We are prolific participants in Skype a Scientist, an educational program linking NeuroSpring scientists and engineers to pre-college classrooms from coast-to-coast in the U.S. and Canada.

We have received Platinum certification from Guidestar™ for its organizational transparency and efficient use of funding.
